I hate that thieves. Because of a ridiculously pervasive wave of scooter and moped thefts, the free ride for this last bastion of motoring freedom has ended. I always liked the idea that a poor or disconnected person had a cheap way to get around. And the renegade in me also liked the idea that there was this one way to fly under the radar. Question: why do we let thieves and other convicted criminals sit around on their backsides and watch TV in jails and prisons? At the very least, they should be on treadmill generators to power their conveniences - and mine, too, for that matter. Everytime I have to search for my keys, padlock my bike or worry about my few valuables or friends walking down the street, I hate anew.
