I hate to be dramatic...But I am venting & am telling friends to always get copies of your reports from doctors or hospitals. Always in black & white on paper... Yesterday I was reading the records for (because I work for her doctor) Kiras visit to the cardiology clinic out of curiosity. Back story: We went to Childrens hospital in Little Rock on 8-6 because Kiras heart skips, beats irregularly, & beats very hard sometimes, & I was concerned. The dr there told me her EKG was abnormal & showed right ventricular hypertrophy (enlarged right ventricle). He ordered an echocardiogram. (ultrasound of heart). Kira & I left the echo room, went to the restroom, got back to the patient room, & the dr was there to tell me her echo was NORMAL so he was ordering a Holter monitor for 48 hours to try to catch an episode of her heart skipping or doing what she feels sometimes. We went home. I called 2 wks after sending the Holter & they said results were normal again. So....back to my story from yesterday. The report of the echocardiogram states Kira has levocardia. Her heart is in the correct side of body (left) but is completely backwards. Her right ventricle & atrium are on the left side & vice versa with her lefts. That is NOT NORMAL. In fact, it is VERY RARE. Now in this Drs defense...everything works normally. Her great vessels are good & her heart did not have any irregular rhythms while the Holter was on. She did however, also have 3 valves that have trivial regurgitation, meaning the valves do not close all the way as they should. This will most likely get better with age...but we need to monitor it!! EKG showed enlarged right ventricle because it was reading the left ventricle which is actually larger. I was disappointed & very angry yesterday that this dr looked me in the EYES & said her was normal so were going to do a holter. So..yes. Things were normal as in the anatomy of the heart structures are all there & functioning. But wouldnt it have been nice to tell me her heart is completely BACKWARDS????!!!??!!😠😠 Sigh. Yea. Im done now. 😰😩😒
