I hated the movie The American Sniper. I cant believe a movie like this was allowed to be played in theaters, and made it to the top of the Box Office. This movie is a brilliant piece of propaganda, especially for the Americans who are ignorant on the subject of Iraq. Hollywood has turned a serious subject into something as simple as black and white. Theres a scene where Kyle and his wife are watching the 9/11 attacks, then, immediately after, shows Kyle fighting Al Qaeda in Iraq, as if there was some reasonable connection between the two. There had not been any connection until the US invaded and bombed the wrong country. Which is what brought al-Qaeda to Iraq, but, of course, they neglected to say that in the movie. They, also, neglected to add how the US occupation led to mass destruction, horrible sanitation, hundreds of thousands of deaths of Iraqis, extremely high unemployment rates, and political radicalization. In the book that Kyle wrote, he saw sniping as a game, and, when one sniper threatened to beat his legendary number, he writes, every stinkin bad guy in the city (began) running across my scope. Veterans suffered as well, and making entertainment out of their problems sure seems to help Americans turn their eyes away from their terrible political choices. Its the soldiers that take the bullets, not the people in suits commanding them forward, or the citizens at home who know nothing of their struggle. My point is, this film paints people as either black or white, good or bad (you know whos who) and glorifies bad political leadership. This movie makes the Iraqis and all Muslims seem like theyre all terrorists; its heartbreaking. What a shame. youtu.be/zLgAImPrKHU
