I have DREADED having surgery, because I was so MISERABLE after - TopicsExpress

I have DREADED having surgery, because I was so MISERABLE after last surgery in 2000. (So far, hernia repair = cake walk compared to broken knuckle re-break and pinning.) However, I would not have dreaded today so much if I had known this day would end with watching LES MISERABLES with my parents and then: holding my fathers face in my hands as he kissed me on the forehead and said, "I love you, son." Thank you, Dad, for picking me at 5:30 a.m. to take me to surgery, patiently waiting through my extended stay in the recovery room, laughing as we listened to my audio-book essay by David Sedaris, and then repeatedly helping me up to go to the bathroom all day. And thank you, Mom, for the hours of vacation laundry you did today. Mundane needs certainly highlight our human condition and need for love. Thank you, God, that your care, and for your embrace...through joy, pain, and the mundane.
