I have a 1 1/2 year old hen who has been having issues for a while now. In July we noticed her vent was leaking a watery substance, and lots of poo was getting stuck in and around the vent. Took a while to get her pretty clean but she kept leaking, not horrible but if I would sit next to her I could see... She ended up getting daily baths for a good 2 weeks. Eventually the poop stopped caking up and she wasnt leaking much at all. So I stopped treating it (we tried multiple treatments for multiple illnesses-epson salt baths, monostat, Vaseline, iodine, electrolights, wormer, changed food). shes starting to leak a clear liquid again, and she got a bath because she was starting to cake poop around her tush. The first time we noticed it in July, she stopped laying for about a week...since then shes pretty constant laying one egg a day or every other day. However, in the past week her eggs have had poo on them.... From being stuck around her (its like the clear liquid is causing everything to stick). Has any body had a chicken with a similar problem or any body have any ideas on what to do?? I am not looking forward to daily chicken baths again. Heres a picture so you can see what Im dealing with. Before and during time bath this evening. Any ideas are welcome!!
