I have a Heil PR 40, and a boom arm (non heil) with shock mount, - TopicsExpress

I have a Heil PR 40, and a boom arm (non heil) with shock mount, but the arm has the cable permanently inside of it (wont budge). Thus, I cant get the mic to point up to speak over it. This is resulting in, despite a pop filter and a Hanes athletic sock over that, still getting extreme plosives that annoy me. Does my diagnosis sound correct? I have tried speaking across it from the side, but that doesnt sound right either. I have a feeling buying a real Heil arm may help, but maybe its not the physical mic but my technique. Just wondering if what I describe could actually contribute to the problem I have. It is kind of driving me nuts, but dropping another round of $$$ on a new arm, when it might just be my technique, is 50/50. And dont ask why I bought a non-official arm instead of a Heil the first time... because I really dont have a good answer. ;) Anyway, just interested to know what you think. I can attach a photo if its helpful. Look forward to hearing what everybody thinks. :)
