I have a VERY hard time believing this research. If scientists can actually create a phobia of the scent of cherry blossoms in mice that would last for generations -- as artificial a phobia as one could devise -- surely phobias of actually dangerous things would be nearly universal and people (and animals) would have a lot of them. And yet, people and animals display blithe disregard for many dangerous things that have killed vast numbers of them for eons. The fear of spiders, for instance, is the most common phobia, but many things are more dangerous than spiders.
