I have a beef with some high school history teachers. Their teaching teens in high school of how bad the holocaust was, but fail in teaching them how far much worse slavery was. Slavery lasted for 400 years, it relocated an entire continent of people and the amount of lives lost is literally uncountable.Which brings me to the next point, the failure of the black identity is the failure to Teach African American History in High School. People can not identify with what they know. You cant just skim through over 400 years of history and then start at the civil rights movement which people condense to Rosa Park, MLK, and Malcolm X. African American is something that should be taught separately in class by itself and it should be a requirement for all. We sat through World History and U.S History, so they should sit through African American History and the Diaspora.
