I have a bit of sympathy for the average gamer. This is a stereotype -- nonetheless, more true than not, I think. These are guys who werent popular (arent popular) in middle school, high school, or college, who had a hard time with women, who got passed over and insulted and beaten and pretty much had a shitty time of it, and turned to games as their one safe place to be happy. And now angry feminists are telling them that *theyre the problem,* that they, abused and looked down upon their whole lives, are privileged white guys and need to shut up and check their privilege. And theyre mad. That I get. That I sympathize with -- despite the fact that, within this particular small space, they *are* privileged, the consumers of games that are overwhelmingly crafted with them in mind. But games are such a small part of life, and they know the world has been cruel and unfair to them, and they seethe -- None of this excuses the rest of it. Its not false flag, its not people lying about whats happening: its their own. The worst of their own, but their own nonetheless.
