I have a challenge for the people who are down in Ferguson who are - TopicsExpress

I have a challenge for the people who are down in Ferguson who are wisely turning their backs on the ‘old guard’ of black liberation activists, who use respectability politics to try to force us into their paradigm what change looks like -- which is to be just like the establishment. The old guard may not see that the new breed of activists are staunchly anti-capitalist and see that we have a critique of the whole economic system. I do struggle with the idea of what justice looks like and I believe that Darren Wilson going to jail isn’t it. We have to show and tell the establishment that we don’t want their justice through the Prison Industrial Complex, we want justice another way. I believe that we should look and study different models of reconciliation that have came around since the civil rights movement, like the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa after Apartheid. It does not feel that the new leaders are taking a look at the historical constructs of movements, and only dealing with the rage (which is a correct feeling at this point) of the masses who feel that the system – at least the Law Enforcement system is deeply flawed and needs to be overturned. *** I AM NOT ADVOCATING FOR PEACE, OR PEACEFUL PROTESTS.*** There are two ways to Nirvana, and we are choosing the hard, painful path. Lets get to it then. theguardian/us-news/2014/oct/13/st-louis-protests-religious-leaders-messages-anger-ferguson-activists?CMP=fb_us
