I have a concern, and I guess it is a bit of a complaint. I just deleted a post about Lent. I deleted it because I asked for positive comments, and...well, that didnt happen...oy. I have never celebrated Lent, but I am working at a church in which it is a tradition. Therefore, I am trying to understand why so many feel it is an important celebration and/or observance. This past December I celebrated Advent for the very first time (another tradition), and guess what? I was able to bridge the gap between myself and those who have celebrated it for years. Not only that, I was able to find Truth in the celebration. My church actually applauded the teaching because it helped them to understand. So what is my concern? I wonder how many believers are being turned off from coming to our churches because some of us are incapable of having a civil discourse on issues in which we dont agree? (Yes, I did mean believers). One of the main reasons that I like apologetics is that it teaches me how to back up my assertions without attacking someone who doesnt agree.
