I have a condition where I need to get blood drained a few times a year. Too many red blood cells or something. Occupational hazard of being a vampire. I look forward to the draining because I feel soooo much better afterwards. Today was my day, but it went a tad different from usual. The nurse was having trouble finding a vein. Somehow she missed the motherlode pipe on the side, opting for the center instead. I closed my eyes as I could feel the needle probing and searching for a vein. I started to feel bad. Sweating profusely. She asked if I was okay, I shook my head. She asked if I was going to faint. I nodded my head. I couldnt speak to say I felt like I was going to barf. Not sure if I fully passed out or just blacked out for a moment, but I suddenly became aware of about six nurses surrounding me. A new poke on the right arm for IV fluids, cold compress on my head, my tummy still considering making a big scene. Then I smelled something. Something bad. Something embarrassing. Did I poop my pants? I asked the nurse. Not yet honey, but you go right ahead if you need to she replied. I burst out laughing. Im sure the IV fluids helped, but laughter was certainly the best medicine. All is well now. Home with my honey.
