I have a couple photos here of a Wilsons Snipe, that I photographed the other day. It was late in the day, clear sunlight at a low angle. Both photos taken with a Canon 40D + EF 100-400 IS USM @ 15 ft. Both times, the camera was stabilized on the window of my car after letting the car sit to let any heat distortion dissipate. The first photo is 1/320th F8 ISO 250. The second is 1/800th F5.6 ISO 500. Can anyone explain the complete lack of clarity on these two photos? I should be able to count the hairs of each individual feather on this bird...
