I have a daughter, Kendra, who is my personality clone in many ways. Being her mother is sometimes not for the faint of heart. I also have an older sister, Theresa, who is sweetness personified. She is so sweet that our nieces and nephews call her Aunt Sweetie. In a rare fit of envy I shared with Kendra that I too wanted to be called Aunt Sweetie. Kendra tilted her head (much like I do when I’m thinking) and replied in a voice that sounds just like my own; “Well, have you considered actually BEING sweet?” I’m sure I looked shocked and she hurriedly added “Seriously mom, you have many good qualities but being ‘sweet’ is not one of them. I assure you Dear Heart that if I was not on this mission to be ‘sweet’ I would say “Right back at you, the apple did not fall far from the tree.” xoxo
