I have a difficult time with people saying the Deflate-gate stuff doesnt matter because of the final score of the Colts game. Nixon won over McGovern on a landslide in 72. Did that make Watergate OK? Yeah...he cheated...but he wouldve won anyway?? When people make mistakes, I think we should go the extra mile -- and then some -- to be forgiving and give them more chances, if theyre sincerely contrite. But, when you cheat...when you PLAN on bending the rules, and then misrepresent what you did and how you did it to cover your butt...and if youre sorry only because you got caught and not because youve damaged the integrity of the game, or your friends, or simply wish to avoid the punishment that you will encounter........you do not deserve sympathy, IMHO. The score is NOT the issue -- integrity IS. Thats why this is so important. Its not just about football...its the question if we are willing to stand up for standards at the expense of our heroes.
