I have a disease. It deforms my joints, attacks my organs. It tears down my muscles and weakens my bones. A disease that destroys my eyesight and/or my teeth. This disease can cause me more pain that you can even begin to imagine. It affects me not only physically but emotionally as well. It limits my ability to walk, run, play with my children, open a jar, button a shirt, or even stand for any length of time. Sometimes I cant think rationally because of it. This disease requires me to take medicines that can cause cancer, destroy my organs, makes me nauseated all day, makes my hair fall out and some are even painful to administer. So PLEASE, excuse me if I cant take the garbage out, clean the house, work a job, tend to children, cook meals, do the laundry, walk down the street, play ball with the kids, ask for help to get dressed or am a little short with my temper. PLEASE excuse me if I dont get all concerned over your headache, sore back or that you are just plain worn out. In the meantime, if any part of my disease bothers you in any way, PLEASE, try and remember that I am your spouse....I am your child....I am your parent....not just somebody to be thrown away because you are uncomfortable and strained. I have a disease that I pray with everything I have YOU never have to experience. I have this disease that will never go away. All I ask is that you give me the same consideration, compassion, and yes, your help, emotionally and physically that I would give you in return. Signed: Your loved one.
