“I have a dream”. I see Jerusalem as the united capital of two states; the shared capital of a unique federation that embraces the state of Israel and the state of Palestine to create a just peace. Distinct entities for national cultural expression yet united to satisfy the need for close collaboration on an equal footing. Joined to share equitably natural resources such as water; to protect the environment; to share skills and technology -- and even, importantly, to provide joint security for all living in the federated area of “IsraPal”. Thus former ‘enemies’ are perceived as and have become cooperating partners. A beacon for the region and the world, Jerusalem with shared administration ; Arab jurisdiction in the eastern section of the city and Jewish in the western -- would not be divided but united, uniting to overcome barriers to peace where to be pro-Palestine is to be pro-Israel and vice-versa. Jerusalem a city of peace where all are their ‘brothers and sisters keepers’ – if we will it, the dream can be realized. This is a vision Ive been sharing wherever I can. Id like it to reach and open the minds of those currently involved in negotiations. To arrive at innovative peaceful resolution of conflicting interests, one needs to think both and rather than either or, I believe.
