I have a feeling my mom had the same horrific response to the time I decided to make homemade, from scratch, pasta for dinner one summer day. There was a coating of flour on EVERYTHING in the kitchen including the ceiling. Pasta with Alfredo sauce was her favorite dish, so I decided to surprise her with it for dinner, and made everything from scratch. She seemed to genuinely enjoy it and said it was some if the best she ever had, but I was forbidden to ever make pasta from scratch again. I think I ended up using the whole bag of flour. I was about 10. Even months later we were finding flour. It was almost impossible to clean. She was good spirited about it, and I did what I could to help her clean it up but it was a mess. We laughed about it for years later.
