I have a few messages for a few people yet, so e patient with me as I will send them to you personally, but his list and what he wants said are getting pretty lengthy. LOL! Here is what he wanted me to post to all, it is long just to warn you. :) I want to thank everyone for thinking of me and contacting me thru fb. For years I have held onto a reluctance of having a fb page set up, just b/c, I never knew what to expect - good or bad. However, I have to say, w/in a week of having this page up and going, all of you have eased that reluctance into completely dissipating. Thank you all for your messages and prayers. I would like everyone to know that I am doing well, keeping a positive outlook on the days directly in front of me, as well as those that lay ahead. I stay very busy with working a full time job, training dogs that will hopefully go on to becoming full pledged guide dogs for a visually impaired person and sports. So, as you may have surmised, I am going strong...well .... let me choose my words a little more particularly as, face it, I am getting older - which my body is constantly reminding me of. ha-ha! But, no, seriously, I am still trudging on forward and keeping a keen focus. The pictures on fb are of me with some of the dogs that I have trained, Murphy is the first dog I trained and has gone on to becoming a guide dog and is placed with a handler which he guides. The Choc. lab, Packer, was an awesomely smart dog. He was what I called a guys dog. He reminded me of being a big jock. He was always ready to go, to run, and to play. But, he was just as motivated to work. I taught him to do a lot, but my favorite thing was to drink water from the water bubbler! Ha-ha! It was really neat to see! Whenever I would show people, they would laugh and be amazed at the same time! He would actually place his front paws on the button of the bubbler and look at me until I said ok and then her would start to drink. Unfortunately has much as he knew he didnt make it into the program b/c he had a whining and barking issue. when he went for his assessment with the harness trainer, he did everything he could not to make it, by that time he wasnt with us and had been residing with some raisers on the streets. I may be wrong, but I think that if he would have still been with us in here when he went for his assessment, he would have passed. Fortunately for some lucky person he is their pet now, and I am sure they love having him just as much as I did. Witing the Golden Retriever, he is my little muppet buddy! When he first came here he didnt know anything. The 1st 3 training sessions I attempted to have with him he wasnt having any of it. He just showed no interest whatsoever! This one made me nervous. But before I knew it he was learning and coming along very well. Before he left he knew just about all of our commands; all the basic ones for sure. He is now on the streets with a handler so that he can experience regular everyday life. I am a little worried about him b/c although he is very smart he has a hard time listening to people. I never had a problem with him, but when other people would handle him he always wanted to run around in circles and playfully mouth them, that is a big no-no. He never once did that with me, but that is because we would never let him get away with anything while we were working / training him, plus I could read him very well - his story is still unfolding. Other than that I played softball all summer long. We had a very good team this year and went undefeated all summer long. Sadly we lost the championship game for our yard. Im not quite sure what happened, but we didnt show up that game - and the other team ended up beating us pretty bad. If nothing else it definitely humbled us. Ha-ha! well I suppose that is it for now. Again, thank you all for getting in touch with me and for all of your thoughts and prayers. With Love and my utmost regards, Michael. on Michaels behalf I have a few more personal messages to send out - but I have to get going for now - I will get them out for sure tomorrow - sorry, but thanks again on Michaels behalf.
