I have a friend that jokingly tells me whenever I find myself - TopicsExpress

I have a friend that jokingly tells me whenever I find myself disappointed or confused about a situation to remember one fact: I write books. He says it as if to say he wishes he could claim that for himself. He says he would just introduce himself to ladies and say Hi. I write books. and the walk off into the sunset with them. He jests that I should go into job interviews with a blank resume that says I write books, put my feet up on the desk, and wait for my corner office and salary. But, being a true friend, he also says it to remind me that no matter what life throws at me, I have accomplished something real and distinct and memorable. Something that no one can take from me. Something that I cant even take away from myself. We spend a lot of our lives discounting our own accomplishments and attributes, instead of celebrating ourselves. We all have that something that makes us special. Maybe your I write books is I ballroom dance or I have 20 years in a loving marriage or I am a compassionate soul or I complete 2,000 piece jigsaw puzzles. Whatever your thing is, own it. Be proud of who and what you are. Realize that who you are is not only valid, but extraordinary. As the title of my last book reminds us There Is More, and more than that YOU ARE MORE. Never let that go. The world will try to take as much as it can from you. I think its about time we take our self-love back. #thereismore #yougotthis J.M. Weldon Thereismore
