I have a great responsibility at my church. And when I say - TopicsExpress

I have a great responsibility at my church. And when I say “great” I mean vast, enormous, wonderful, every synonym you can think of. I am the director of Public Affairs for our area. This means I get to meet with fabulous people in our community who are not necessarily of my faith. Right now the biggest thing on my plate is a fabulous new website, JustServe.org. I get to meet with people in my community who are looking for volunteers to serve other people. Today I got to meet with the most wonderful man who runs Just Because Ministries of Hope, among other organizations. I was there to talk to him about what I could do for his organization to help get more volunteers sent his way to help with the Thanksgiving dinner he offers to the people of the area. They will feed 2,000 people that day. Then load up and take another 600+ meals out to the homeless that couldnt make it to the church. When we finished talking about the needs for the Thanksgiving dinner he asked if I thought we could help with the Christmas Project he is involved in. Absolutely! He then told me of the needs of the community for Christmas. He helps those who don’t fall within the boundaries of the Brown or Blue Santas in our area; those who don’t live within the city limits. He has 2,000 children who are in need of gifts. He will be seeing to the needs of 100 homeless teenagers in the community, taking baskets of love to cancer patients, helping the Wounded Warriors. If you want to help with these things, or many others, you can register at JustServe.org and find someone to bless. And in return I know you will be blessed as well. Not a member of my church? Doesn’t matter! Anyone, everyone is welcome. Don’t live in the Austin Area? Doesn’t matter! JustServe is rolling out across the nation. Come join me and my family on thanksgiving serving those who won’t have a meal any other way.
