I have a lot of good friends who work for the A.C. Wharton Administration....As a Political Commentator and Host of The Brian Clay Chronicles, I need to maintain a certain level objectivity and fairness, when I discuss various elected officials or persons running for office. I am still learning how to temper my comments and not be so hard on politicians that I do not always agree with.....I know I have been hard on Mayor Wharton, for a myriad of reasons. His policies have been horrific. He has no relationship with common person in Memphis. Not to mention, he tries to run City Hall like a Law Firm. Now for full disclosure, I interned for Mayor Wharton when he was Chief Public Defender....I will also add, that Mayor Wharton served as a Role Model when I was much younger...Mayor Wharton has an open invitation to come on The Brian Clay Chronicles anytime he wants to discuss issues pertinent to Memphis.....I say all of that, because today, Mayor Wharton did something today that was absolutely mind blowing even for him....As Les Smith said, We have a multitude of people trying to make Memphis a great City, Yet instead of the Mayor finding someone with character to celebrate, Mayor Wharton gave the KEY TO THE CITY. TO RICK ROSS.....Out of all the people in the World, the only person you can think of to acknowledge, you can only salute Rick Ross? This was not only a bone head move, but Rick Ross is not even a hood rapper! Again, Wharton proves that he is totally out of touch with reality....Someone please tell the Mayor, this does not make him cool....Its a confirmation that 2015, needs to be Whartons last term...Memphis needs to divest itself from its First 48 reputation...Giving Rick Ross an award is absolutely stupid! Mayor Wharton, please get a grip!
