I have a new design - and I cant show it till Christmas! *drums fingers impatiently on table for that all-important Santa visit* :-) In fact for the next couple of days I cannot show you any makes as all of the recipients are CHHC likers and I cannot blow the surprise. (boooooooo!) Instead, please enjoy a little festive story, that actually happens to be true. And for those sceptics (like me), open your minds up to the possibilities that magic can exist........ Just over a year ago I was preparing to say farewell to my beloved Alfie dog. Part of my life for over 13 years, it had got to the stage where I could not control pain, and his quality of life had diminished. I am sure many of you have been in this position - and while the urge to howl and scream about the unfairness of it all is huge, we hold it together for the sake of our furry loved one. But tears were starting to flow as I waited for the vet. And then a robin flew into the cottage - and refused to leave. And for some time I dashed around the cottage trying to head him to the open door - relieving poor Alfie of my distress. Last night Alfie was in my thoughts, as I contemplated the passage of time and looked wistfully at his photo. He was the sort of dog you couldnt fail to love - big, cuddly, friendly - my big teddy dog. And I confess I could feel the tears beginning to well up in my eyes. I do miss him awfully - and my other two Lost Boys, Sniff and Jack. And then I heard a whirring of wings....... A robin flew into the living room - and landed on my arm. And we looked at each other - I even had the presence of mind to grab the camera sitting next to me and got a (very bad) photo. Then Madam Meow intervened and the robin flew off, and disappeared behind the curtain before I caught him and took him outside. He looked very calm - usually I can feel little hearts beating against my fingers when I catch small visitors - but he was very peaceful, and sat on my hand for a moment before flying off. The dogs and I went for our late stroll at midnight, under the stars and a black sky - and three small clouds to the south transformed for a brief moment into what looked like paw-prints before merging into one - and I smiled.
