I have a note where I write everything I learn about writing from time to time ... In February this year, when I faced a rejection that hurt me badly, I went on digging what actually rejection means ... The following things that I added in note made me realize that rejection means absolutely NOTHING! *The legendary writer Rudyard Clipping was rejected with a remark that he didnt know how to use English language. *Ayn Rands Fountain Head was rejected telling it was unsaleable and unpublishable. *The Da Vinci code was rejected with remark - It is so badly written. *Chiken soup For The Soul faced 140 rejections *Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell was rejected 38 times. *Diary Of Young Girl by Anne Frank was rejected 15 times. *Stephen King was rejected 30 times before getting published. *Harry Potter was rejected 12 times and J K Rowling was told not to quit her day job. (She is now one of the richest authors alive) *Animal Farm by George Orwell was rejected telling there is no market for it (A book that conquered the market of many generations.) *Life Of Pie that won Booker Prize in 2002 was rejected 5 times. *Twilight by Stephenie Meyer faced 14 rejections. (sold 17 million copies) *Nobel laureate Pearl S Bucks rejected book The Good Earth later won Pulitzer prize. The list is longer ... I share a few as I just found someone around who got depressed by rejection ... As much as I understood, rejection in literary world doesnt hold any sense, no matter whatever reasons being told or not told !
