I have a plan for saving my country. It involves a complete overhaul of the current system. I propose a return to a constitutional government but a revamp of how people and positions are chosen to reflect what we have learned from the failures thus far and the technology now available. The electoral college is out. We dont need it as votes can now be easily counted and tabulated. Monetary campaign contributions are gone. Totally. If you want to support a candidate put your feet on the ground and prove your support by doing something. Representatives elected by popular vote with a two term limit. Senators are appointed just like jurors, from the pool of citizens. They receive the salary but not healthcare or pension. Neither do representatives get pension or healthcare. Both groups return to the common workforce after their terms are up. President is by popular vote but with powers returned to constitutional limits. Term limited as now, again no pension no lifelong healthcare. Remember of the people, for the people and by the people? We need to eliminate this ruling class of lawmakers and former lawmakers who no longer really have to be regular people affected by the laws they make. Voter ID required both to register and vote. Say it is racist all you like it is not. However chances are if you think this is racist you are. State governments should follow similar patterns to ensure the voice of common people continues to be heard.
