I have a pretty good report today. The day started kind of rocky. For the last couple of days Gerald has bee complaining of a bad smell when he looks down. Ive given him about 3 or 4 baths and he still keeps complaining. Finally I told him he was just being sensitive that I couldnt smell anything. Last night we figured it out. The puncture wounds from his surgery are infected and there is a foul odor coming from them. He could only smell it because it was wafting out the neck of his gown. My armpit checks were negative for b.o. First thing this morning the surgeon snipped those incisions back open today and packed those wounds. Next we showed him that Geralds leg was swollen, so he ordered an ultrasound which showed that there was no blood clot there.The next bit of good news came a couple of hours later. Gerald had a repeat abdominal and pelvic CT to check for more abscesses. According to the surgeon the CT was perfect. The ileus in his small bowel has even resolved. Now he just has to muster up a fart again! Last night while we were walking laps we were having a pity party. We were talking about how we were just sick of getting nothing but bad news and how just one tiny victory would make us feel so much better. Today weve had several victories.
