I have a quest. for you, do you believe that the United States Intelligence community was obligated to discover what our enemies were preparing to do to us, in the wake of the bombing of the twin towers in New York? If you say no, let me tell you enhance interrogation has been a tactic used since WWI you may want to use TORTURE, if you do you are WRONG, because TORTURE requires self gratification of an individual. I assure you that there is NO SELF GRATIFICATION for any operator, attempting to extract information from a suspected enemy combatant. As a member of in the service back in 1966, 67, 68. 69 I was involved at times in an interrogation where enhanced tactics were used. HAD WE NOT USED THEM, thousands of military personnel may have died at the hands of the enemy we were fighting at the time. Presidents, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, were well versed at what was going on in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Sometimes in an effort to maintain our country free, things must be done to insure that we remain so. The people that do this are un-sung heroes. I fail to recognize if a soldier kills an enemy by his hands, with a knife, or with a rifle how it differs from doing what you have to do to extract information from one person, that may save tens of thousands and a way of life, by providing discomfort to one person, as opposing that one person killing 10 thousand lives. Up until President Bush, in 2008 we had an intelligence community, today we have none. All we do with those that can provide us with information is kill them, and all the children and innocent people around them. Obamas policy of better care.
