I have a question: Is the bird draped around your shoulders alive? I tend to think we dont, normally, follow current culture unless it is forced. I like living in the country; prefer Idaho because it is so clean and lovely...I liked growing up in Colorado before it became a current and relatively ugly culture. I enjoyed Washington State because the people were multi national and most were very friendly...I also liked Washington because I suffered no crime there in 14 years of living there. Things change and, not necessarily, for the better. I am sure there are areas in California where you could be infinitely happy...sometimes it is the search that turns out to be the answer.
