I have a question for all of you..How many of you would be interested in attending a photo trip and workshop next April..It would be 4 days in Machu Picchu Peru and four days in Costa Rica. Price will be $4395.00 includes airfare, lodging, professional guides, transportation and we even will spend the night at Machu Picchu to get sunrise and sunset shots.. This would be a great trip to bring your non photographer spouse or friend as well..Let me know how it sounds? Here is the idea of what the itinerary would look like other than the overnight stay. .April 13 – Fly from your home city to Los Angeles and board your international flight around 2pm. You are off to Cusco, Peru! April 14 – You will arrive in Cusco this morning. Transfer to the hotel to relax. The day is yours to explore, shop or just sit back and observe what is going on in the fascinating town square. This square is surrounded by shopping and restaurants as well as locals participating in fun cultural activities. April 15 – Your exploration of this remarkable city continues this morning with an expert-guided Cusco tour. You will visit many of the amazing archaeological sites and wonders in and around the city, including the Cusco Cathedral, Qoricancha, the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Q’enko, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay. Spend the evening at your leisure enjoying the local cuisine and hospitality of the Cusco local. (B) April 16 – Explore the beautiful Peruvian countryside with a full-day tour of the magical Sacred Valley. First, you will visit the town of Pisac, famous for its bustling market. Here you will have the opportunity to browse the beautiful handicrafts and Andean garments displayed for sale. • Next, you will visit the impressive ruins of Ollantaytambo. These magnificent ancient ruins serve as great vantage points to look out over the valley. Originally the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti during the Inca Empire, this site later served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui in the Inca’s final rebellion against the Spanish. • You will also stop in the town of Chinchero. In Inca times, Chinchero was the royal estate of Tupac Inca Yupanqui, the Spanish later built a church here, and today the town is recognized for its Sunday market as well as the production of fine textiles. • The group will overnight in the Ollantaytambo area where you will have free time for dinner and to explore. (B,L) April 17 – After breakfast at the hotel, you will take a train to the hidden temple of the Incas: Machu Picchu. The train ride is an attraction in itself, as much of the path winds along the river and mountain face, offering passengers dramatic views of the Andes. The foliage dramatically changes as the train approaches the meeting point of the Andes and the Amazon rainforest, providing visitors with a real sense of Peru’s diverse geography. • Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, the town near Machu Picchu, you will head to the bus station for a 20-minute ride up to the secluded citadel. Meet your expert English-speaking guide for a tour of the most important sites in Machu Picchu, including the Intihuatana (Sun Stone), the Sun Temple, and the Room of 3 Windows. You will be able to appreciate the intricate stonework of this amazing site. The giant stones were hauled by hand to the top of the mountain centuries ago, and yet their foundations still remain. After your tour, you have the option to explore more of the site on your own and capture some final photos. In the afternoon, you will take a comfortable train back to Cusco where you’ll be taken to your hotel to spend the night. (B) April 18 – Transfer to the airport this morning for your flight to Costa Rica! You will arrive in Costa Rice around 2pm and transfer to your beach resort hotel located in the central Pacific area. A welcome dinner awaits you followed by leisure time to sit on the beach and enjoy. (B,D) April 19 – Eat breakfast at your hotel before a morning jungle crocodile safari! You won’t want to miss this fun event. After lunch, you are off to La Fortuna area where you will be staying at the Arenal Springs resort. This is located right by the famous Arenal volcano. Enjoy a dip in the pool before dinner. (B,L,D) April 20 – Start the day by touring the Arenal Volcano National Park. In the park you will find some of the most beautiful Costa Rican landscapes as well as tropical birds and wildlife. Talk about a fun jungle experience! An afternoon visit to Casona Río Fortuna is planned. Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious typical lunch and then enjoy the Cultour, a Costa Rican Country side style tour!! Overnight at the Arenal Springs resort again. (B,L,D) April 21 – After breakfast, departure to Poás Volcano area. On the way, visit Sarchi & Grecia towns. Considered one of the cleanest towns of Latin America, it is home to the only Metal Church in Central America. In order to catch a glimpse of local lifestyle we will also visit the central market area. Our last stop is Sarchi, known as the Cradle of Costa Rican Artisans because of its fine workshops. Here we will have time to enjoy the artistic work of the local artisans as they create the famous typical oxcart; you will be able to shop for souvenirs to take home. Lunch will be included at a local restaurant. After this tour, continue to the Poás Volcano area where you will overnight. (B,L,D) April 22 – A leisurely guided morning walk is set today in Poás Volcano National Park. This will be a neat way to end your South and Central American adventure! Following lunch, it is off to the airport for your flight back to Los Angeles. You will arrive late this evening back in LA. Welcome home! (B,L) (4 photos)
