I have a question if you have a moment: In regard to people - TopicsExpress

I have a question if you have a moment: In regard to people recording (usually with cell phones) at our concerts, where do you weigh in? We rarely prohibit cell phone recording as (special cases include unreleased songs, or super-exclusive events where we ourselves are contractually prohibited like a casino) but in my mind one hand says: people payed for the show, we are grateful for this and are honestly performing, doing our best with no tracks or tricks and have nothing to hide. And on the other: cell phones and flashes do take away from lighting and mood as a sea of bright screens are facing the audience and literally make it difficult to see nuance because of the nature of our eyes, and people who spend the whole concert holding up a cell phone (usually quite high) not only block others views but dont participate in any form of crowd participation (which kinda kills the whole collective spirit thing that a POSITIVE concert can have. From my perspective, yes it is weird to perform in front of a bunch of people who are not making eye contact. (Try it yourself, talk to someone about a deep issue while they look above your head at a phone) but, it is my job and im grateful to do it. My prerogative is to give the best concert possible where the most people who payed their hard-earned money leave happy. A decision either way diminishes happiness depending on whether you are a filmer or a participant. I even try to make filmers into participants by using their phones to film. One thing is clear, I do not think it is acceptable for a performer to do this. Http://m.youtube/watch?v=EydQy8F0Af8 (yes, rex I stole it from your channel) what do you think about the issue? Filming does change the vibe a whole lot. Ive seen a couple concerts in my life lol. And do you have any suggestions?
