I have a question that maybe some of you could help me with: Over the summer, we had to put my daughters horse down due to a bad colic. A friend of our then current barn manager gave my daughter a horse. At the time he gave us this horse, he gave me his AQHA registration papers and a tranfer of ownership form signed by he and his wife. Fast forward to this week: Things got a little crazy at the barn we were at, so I moved to a different barn. Now the old owners of the horse are trying to have us return the horse, stating that he was given to my daughter on the condition that he stay at the old barn. This was not stated to me at the time we got him, not had I ever heard anything of this until we moved. There is no contract of any kind stating any conditions or terms, only the signed transfer of ownership form that I received the day he was given to my daughter. My question: Is this horse legally mine?
