I have a rather unorthodox instructor for one of my online classes. We meet twice monthly and up until this morning, I had the feeling like he didnt care for me. Well, I turned in a project last night and his response shocked me. Every other project I had turned in he RIPPED to shreds in his critic. The class had a mid-term and although most of us received a less than glowing review, by the time he finished with me, I felt 2inches tall inside. Here is a snippet of the text I received this morning..... Him: TOLBERT you up? Me: Yes, Good morning Him: Morning Him: Tolbert, you ever play sports? Me: {with a confused look on my face} Yes, may I ask why you ask? Him: You are only 1 of 2 of my students who take my crap without egotistical feedback. Athletes learn to respect to process. Me: Didnt respond right away...didnt know how to reply Him: I usually have to remove the ego from my students to find the photographer inside. You have the battle 70% won, the technical side will come, have patience. Me; Thank you, I appreciate the motivation. Him: Going forward, you can thank me by sending me nothing less than what you turned in last night. Youre getting it and fast, hang in there. Good Day Tolbert! Me: Good Day Mr. Holland #thatfeltgood
