I have a relation who is an amazing shopper, and a wizard at coupons. I mean, she can get stuff for 80% - 90% off by juggling coupons and doing her thing. She loves to shop on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, getting a jump on bigger deals and incredible savings. She shops for four boys who refuse to stop growing so every penny saved is well earned by her effort. Its also her way, she enjoys the hustle. She is there for the family supper, her boys do not go hungry nor do they miss being cared for, we have a large family gathering every year. Her husband sometimes has to work on the holiday, part of the job, but they make it work somehow. I do not like the stores that exploit their employees, who do not offer overtime or any other compensation, much less those who compel all their employees to work on the holiday. But they do, and they are open and you can count you blessings you are not one of those folks that has to work on the day. There is a whole other universe of public and private service people who do. There are a legion of gas station attendants and restaurant workers who are suited up each and every holiday. And I would ask you be a little less harsh on the compulsive shoppers, If they wanna go, let em go. Mind you I do not endorse shopping on Thanksgiving, I just know that for some folks, its how they like to get their season started. I guess being a nurses hubby for a couple of years taught me not everyone gets the big Rockwell family turkey scene all the time. And I dont like the ugly commercialism. I will not stand in line all night long for anything much less a big screen TV. But I would say this, start your Thanksgiving with tolerance for each other.
