I have a sort of statement/rant/advice that I would like to share. Ive been in the German car world since 2001. Ive owned dozens of cars, dealt with hundreds of people, made many friends etc. Id say Im a fairly established person in Florida, though maybe not widely known. Ive made it a point to help people, especially newbies. Im also frequently sarcastic and intolerant of poor choices. I try to always be FAIR. As far as cars and car parts go, sometimes I need to get a certain amount for an item. However, often, if i see someone genuinely in need, Ill cut significant breaks on prices. I also float parts if I feel comfortable and the person seems trustworthy. Heres the advice part of the rant: if someone is going out of their way to help you, be honorable and fulfill your part of the deal. For example if someone sells you a part(s) for under market value, and theres an issue, dont screw them by opening a credit card dispute without first trying to resolve the issue. Dont do things like install the part, track the car, BREAK THE PART, and then ask to return it having never paid a penny. Dont ask a seller to hold a big and pricey item PROMISING to pick it up and then subsequently disappear for weeks and eventually back out of the agreement. All three have happened to me in the last two months. My message: be a good member of your enthusiast community... Treat others as you want to be treated.
