I have a training program I would like to implement to all case workers, facilitators, analysts, managers, directors and everyone else involved in the hierarchy of making support decisions for the special needs community who cannot speak and or who are non ambulatory. Sit these people in a room. Tell them when they can go to the washroom, when they can be fed, when they will be washed and dressed and what they are going to do for the day. Then start personal care, try to lift them out of their chair (we would have them all in wheelchairs that have to be pushed by someone else), then lift out of chair onto toilet and try to pull down their underwear etc (also make them wear briefs with the sticky ties).... then put them on the toilet and sit next to them until the pee and poo. Then clean them up. Next, stick a toothbrush in their mouth and clean their teeth, put a glass of water to their lips to make them drink... shaving cream on their skin and or oil depending on what shaving system you choose to use for them, without them being able to be self determined about it. Wash their face and sponge down their body instead of a shower or bath. Sponge wash their hair (this is disgusting as you cannot really clean hair this way). Then take off their other garments and dress them without them having choice of clothing. Then lift them back to wheelchair and try to get bottoms of briefs and clothing onto them. Then wheel them to a table to eat. Feed them and put drink to their mouths. and continue the entire daily routine for 7 days. See how they feel afterwards. Then they should be instructed to write their true feelings of every moment of the day - especially when (implement into the training that the worker forgot to take them to a bathroom break so they soiled themselves)... and lets see what they felt about the whole experience for one week! I challenge ALL workers and ALL bureaucrats to experience this!!! I am happy to facilitate such a training FREE of charge to the government and their affiliated agencies!
