I have a very simplistic view of the reed. It is a valve that creates a resistance. A weak reed has low resistance, a strong reed has higher resistance. When you choose a reed it should meet the amount of resistance you need to play your music. Its qualities of sound whether buzzy, woody, bright, dark are those characteristics that help us express ourselves in an individual way. I usually use two different types of reeds with similar resistance qualities but different in sound properties. Happy Saturday!
