I have a wonderful memory of the last time my sister made banana pudding for me. I was visiting about a month before she died, and she asked me if there was anything that Mother used to make that I wanted. Well, yeah. So into the kitchen Amy went. I was banished to the living room, and Im glad I was, because I got to hear her talking to the recipe card as if it were my mom - things like Mother, you know it was two egg yolks, why did you write down four? That was sweeter than the pudding. Here is the recipe. Mix together: 1/4 cup sugar; 3 T flour; and 1/4 tsp salt. Set aside. ----- Mix together: 2 egg yolks; 1 1/2 cup whole milk. ----- Add this mixture to the dry mixture. ----- Cook over low heat until thick. ----- Then add 1 T butter and 1/2 tsp vanilla. ----- Cook, then add bananas. Layer pudding and Nilla Wafers.
