I have a wonderful single, devoted Dad on my friends list His dedication and commitment to being a single father inspires me. I hope Chad Warrendoes not mind me doting on him, he does not know that while this is not his story..he was my inspiration for writing it... He clutches his teddy bear Waiting by the widow Mommy said she would be here With her, he could go Remembering that day in court Mommy didnt come or show She didnt want him for sure So Daddy stood up alone He listened to the judge The lawyers and such Say Mommy was a slut He only knew her he loved Daddy cried when he spoke Little heart strings were tugged Mommy sent a lawyer bloke Who read some note she wrote She said she couldnt take it Being a Mommy was not her thing His ears stung when he heard it Why Mommy cant you love me She called him on Sundays Daddy would hand him the phone She never had much to say He hung to every word she spoke It has been a year since last She came to see him He held tiny tears back Trying to control his trembling lip He walked away from the window Frowned and slumped on the couch Daddy sat beside him real close Pulled him close and held round Its OK little buddy you see This leaves the day for us Your Mommy must be busy Well call her now just us Dialing the phone so quick His little fingers shook She answered in a jiff I forgot, Maybe next time son The words stung His heart broke into pieces I love you she sung More lies, never a reason Hanging up the phone he sighed Staring at her picture inside Daddy knew she had lied Throwing the phone he cried Allowing the tears to flow Daddy took his hand so gentle Lets go to the park down the road We can play, laugh and giggle As they departed the house Walking hand in hand down the lane One could see their similar pounce He and Daddy were the same Janet Whitley Sylvia Martin
