I have adored watching the ice water for ALS videos greatly! However, I have a phobia to ice cold water ( Florida is starting to look better & better! Lol) So Please dont challenge me to do it, I would have to respectfully decline! ;-) Many years ago I met a friend whos mother was in the latter stages of ALS. To imagine being trapped within your own body, not being able to move, unable to breathe without assistance, until even that fails, is horrific beyond comprehension. My thoughts and prayers go out to All living with ALS, loved ones, and the amazing people who care for them. My experience with my friends Mother was life changing. I held her hand in mine and chatted with her as if nothing was wrong. Within her eyes, she smiled, laughed, at my silliness. Eyes that were burning brightly with intelligence, Grace so grand that I was blown away. She could no longer move, she could barely breathe, but there was not an iota of sadness emanating from her eyes. She died shortly thereafter, only a few weeks after my visit. She died at home, with hospice and family. Those beautiful eyes closed, eyes of endless eternity. I will always remember what I saw within them. So when I feel emotionally bankrupt, or am down on my luck, I remember those eyes. I know that I can keep on moving forward.
