I have always argued that those people who believe themselves to be Palestinians should go to Palestine - call it Judea and Samaria, The East Bank (Jordan) or Gaza - is not important. What is important is that identity is multi-layered and on occasion, a conscious act of self-identifying. So if I am born in the West, I am often a national of such and such origin – for instance: British of Pakistani origin, or a British Muslim. Those that deny the state of their birth make the deliberate choice not to identify with the country of their sojourn. And they do dwell temporarily in that place. It is time that Israel made clear to self-identifying Palestinians within the Knesset or those that publically attack minorities for serving in the IDF that they do not represent the nation and do not belong within its borders.
