I have always been anti stack. I am not anti walking horse. I am anti stack. Here is why... Growing up as an equestrian, I wanted to know all things horse... From eohippus to confirmation and everything in between, I crammed my little brain. In doing so, I found that a horse carries 60% ( conflicted between 55-65 in many reports) of its weight on its front legs. In order for a horse to move without risk of injury, a rider needs to have a balanced center with the horse. This is why equitation is so important for beginner riders to learn. It is also why the man from snowy river leaned back and why a person jumping a horse leans forward. When you look at a picture of a horse, the back is level. When you look at a picture of a big lick or stacked walking horse, the back is at a slope. The legs squat. This is because these horses have stacked shoes on. This causes the weight of the horse, and ultimately that of the rider to shift to the back legs. These legs arent designed to hold the excess weight. The horses center of balance is off. This is what happens when a horse is off balance. All of this is not even taking into consideration the soring and the pain caused to some to achieve a higher step... I am also upset they would do this to a two year old. Horses this young shouldnt be put under this stress...it us my opinion this horse didnt overheat, it lifted the back leg to rest and since that leg wasnt holding the extra weight it wasnt meant to in the first place, the horse lost balance and fell....Horse overheats at horse show.: youtu.be/m-Fj1w2TDWU
