I have always been impressed and inspired by human nature. Particularly our capacity as a species to care about people we do not even know ! The honest, impartial and non-judgmental giving that occurred yesterday, Saturday December 13th, was far beyond anything I have ever experienced. I was humbled. I am deeply grateful to be associated with the people of the community of Houston. Throughout the day, many people dropped off food items at the RCMP Detachment parking lot for the 2014 Cram The Cruiser Food Bank Drive. Our hope was that we could solicit enough food items to equal last years achievement of cramming three police vehicles full of food. This years response from our community was astounding (as the photos reveal !). Through the generosity of Houston community members we were able to cram four RCMP vehicles with much needed food items,including a giant pile on the bed of the police truck ! I would like to extend a most sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to the food bank drive. I am indeed astounded by the massive response, and yet, I am not really surprised. The people of Houston invariably take care of each other, usually in a quiet, unassuming manner. No fuss, just honest caring. I love living here.
