I have always been so fascinated by the work and life of Frida Kahlo. I dont know what it is that draws me in and makes me feel like somehow I have found a long lost kindred spirit. I am not by any way shape or form a artsy person. Not even the masters have much of an effect on me. But oh Fridas work, something about it rips at that pit in my stomach. I am a practical girl and spend almost no time giving art a second thought. I will stop the world and stare at her work lost in the stories she painted through her life time. I always am left with this strange feeling that some day I will get back to see her, hold her hand, and sit by her side. As if we had once been old friends. Odd feelings considering she died 19 years before my own birth. but perhaps that is what makes her the genius I think she is -- touching someone so deeply though her work so long after her physical body faded away. She is forever immortal.
