I have always been supportive of the local adage: BUY ME FOR AN ASS, BUT DONT SELL ME AS ONE. Today I see it as being most relevant when reading the statements made by Works Minister (WM) Suruj Rambachan at the opening of the $6.5M WALKOVER at the Divali Nagar site on Tuesday. Eyebrows were raised by the public as to the haste of its construction in light of the total neglect of a much needed one at Sea Lots. The WM made the idiotic statement about certain pipelines and other obstructions which prevented the construction at Sea Lots, statements which were refuted by many persons knowledgeable of the area. Now we all know that liars have NO memory, so when confronted with the same question on Tuesday, the WM stated that the Ministry had been designing a walkover for the area (Saturday Express 17/10/14 Pg 23). OH PLEASE!!!! Its a walkover, not a blasted museum, how much designing or time do you need to design a walkover? My second question is why couldnt these walkovers have been built simultaneously? At a cost of $13M, this figure is not beyond the reach of this Govt; after all they spent almost 4X that figure to buy back land they sold to SIS after 1 year and $8M to recover a $2.2M Fire Truck. So is it that the lives in Sea Lots are of less value to the PP Govt than those in Chaguanas? After all, we know they are quite aware that theres a better chance of TnT winning a World Cup before the PP WINS PORT OF SPAIN SOUTH IN ANY ELECTION. So why assist the supporters of the enemy. As I have always stated my friends, the PP is alien to the CONCEPT OF TRUE GOVERNANCE. They have continually failed to realise that after elections they are the Govt of TnT, not PP Constituencies. Time and again, we have heard statements, such as Did they support us and One must expect that Govt Constituencies will be better treated than others made by the PM and members of her Cabinet. So its no surprise that the Sea Lots Walkover is yet to be even DESIGNED . Im not a gambling person, but Im willing to put my $$ where my mouth is, and state The Sea Lots Walkover will NOT be built any time before GE 2015. After all, whats it to them if a couple more of the enemies supporters are killed in vehicular accidents before elections. I know their supporters will say PNM didnt build one when they were in power, but they wont say Panday didnt build one in Chaguanas when HE was in power so they leaving it so. To the PP and their supporters, GOD dont sleep so dont beat up,its only my opinion.
