I have always boasted about being a King David graduate. I have - TopicsExpress

I have always boasted about being a King David graduate. I have used the education I received many times as an example to demonstrate how Jews with different opinions or religous inclinations and different political opinions were offered an open platform to express their views. Despite the dark era of South African history , where one could not always speak of or demonstrate ones political beliefs publicly (I matriculated 83) in which I attended King David High School Linksfield , I was taught right from wrong, I was taught to follow my heart and concience and fight for what I believed in while making sure I was tolerant and not harmful to others. I therefore grew up to be concios minded Zionist - I live in Israel, I belong to a conservative Shul ( I feel their approach to Judiasm, community invovlement and shul services resemble the Jewish life I lived in South Africa. I have a pluralistic view about religion - I also believe that Jews can co-exist with Christians and Muslims in Israel and also believe that the Palestinians have a right to their own State. That means that I am actualy also Zionistic and also pro-Palestinan. King David pupils have a right to their opinions . The teaching staff at King David Schools should be ensuring that their pupils base their opinions on truth and correct facts. The teaching staff are also responsible for making sure that the students are not harming others , and especially not themselves. The teachers who prepared the students for the debate could have also decided (while still honoring personal opinions) that the content of the debate was not appropriate to be published as a representation of the King David Schools standpoint on the particular issue. By The King David Schools decision to stand by this public act of defiance of what I believed ( Im sure Im not alone here) to be the core of Jewish Zionist education, I am deeply dissapointed. There has been a grave mistake made here, which might have been corrected by an apology by the prefect body or the Representives of the King David School. The obstinance displayed in the whole matter has caused a rift within the Jewish Community in South Africa and a sense of deep regret and embarresment to myself a KDHS graduate. PS : Dear KDHS Teachers, one can still be pro-Israel, pro- Palestinian and pro- IDF. THe attached video clip is a monologue by an Egyptian anchor broadcast on Egyptian television (I am not bothering to translate as the staff and students are so knowledgable about the situation in Israel , they will obviosly understand the Hebrew and the Arabic, - If not I suggest someone translates for you) https://facebook/photo.php?v=10203437014658641
