I have always felt that since policemen are such powerful people and can use their office in the commission of crimes, when they are convicted then they should be subject to stricter penalties than others in the society. But these men and women are hardly even being convicted these days no matter how strongly the evidence is stacked against them. They have become a law unto themselves and it seems that everybody is afraid of them, including the judges, the magistrates and even the politicians. Will this policeman have his contract renewed when the time comes? And if anyone thinks this criminality is confined to the lower ranks they had better think again. Incidentally why was the senior officer recently freed by the court of appeal, not retired in the public interest? Instead he is holding down a desk, doing nothing, I would imagine and still collecting taxpayers money. I guess when he finally retires he will be given some big job in government. What the hell is going on?
