I have always for yearssssss believed this about shop mannequins! why is it that the majority of shops seem to advertise their clothes on mannequins that are totally un representative of the people who shop in their establishment?! Now Im not saying that all shops should have size 18-20 mannequins or size 4-6, but should shops not make more of a conscious effort to advertise their products in a way where it is representative of the MAJORITY?! How many times have you gone into a shop and seen something nice on a display and then tried it on and its totally misleading? So many times Ive came home from shopping and felt utterly huge and discussing - despite the fact that for my height and weight I am at the borderline of being considered underweight and my BMI is perfect. Most of these shops that are responsible for recklessly promoting unrealistic body images are shops were the majority of our youth buy their clothes from! If you have really skinny legs the way the mannequin does thats perfectly great and if you dont, thats also great! Accept, embrace and UNDERSTAND that you have a UNIQUE SHAPE THAT IS EXCLUSIVE TO YOU, dont be so over sensitive about these representations and just understand that as long as long as retailers promote healthy and realistic images the SHAPE of them makes no difference, I for one do not want to have to overhear another conversation in toilets about how girls believe themselves to be overweight/underweight/ generally imperfect.
