I have always thought that music was a bit magical. You know, the ability to convey sound, energy, percussion, word and all of that at once, must be a bit out of this world. Yesterday, the first day of the Calabar Jazz Festival convinced me beyond any shred of doubt, that music, especially the live kind, is spiritual. It speaks to you, moves you and lifts you higher. Almost like youre riding a very high wave with utter confidence and deep-rooted knowledge. And may I add that the description of Bez Bez Idakula as an alternative soul artiste is waaayyy tooo tame and way tooo inadequate for what he really is and what he really does. Music is magic.
