I have always wished that San Beda College of Law would uplift itself more as a significant law school or institution in the country which can engage in intellectual discussions, forums, commentaries on social and political issues that our countrys facing today. One of the reasons why UP and Ateneo are two great law schools because they have always been tapped by media, government, student forums etc to engage and enlighten the community about matters of law. That couldve been a better platform or job for the LSG, its president or its external officer along with the school administration support. Hindi yung puro exposure and focus lang natin ay sportsfest, conflicts of law, debates (no offense to our brilliant debaters) and the like. Thats already trivial and easy. But it doesnt put us in the same light as our fellow schools. We can learn better if we can see how the law comes alive and in play in the hands of these people in power. I believe that law students should be more socially conscious and less empathetic and go beyond the academics of studying inside the classroom. We are lacking in social relevance, we are rather limited with commentaries we individually post in our own social media accounts. Sana LSG and the school admin can work on projects that can proactively promote that. WE have a long way, but it can be done. :) ~The law is reason with passion Mendiola
