I have another thing to say. Generalization and stereotypes - TopicsExpress

I have another thing to say. Generalization and stereotypes shouldnt exist the way they currently do in the service industry. It broke my heart tonight when one of my favorite servers shed tears tonight because even though shed been working hard on her 10-hour shift, the whole crowd in her restaurant was only consisting of people who came from the 231 club in Gadsden (apparently a predominantly black bar), and she had gotten literally ZERO dollars in tips and her shift pretty much over by the time I came in. Meaningless skin pigmentation aside, I will tell you something right here, right now, and I will only say it once. Servers make $2.13/hour, and after taxes they take home a $0.00 check. They 100% rely on what they are rewarded as a tip regarding their service. There is no excuse (albeit race or any other issue) that should keep a hard-working person from paying their bills and keeping their family alive. As a PERSON, I understand that less often than not, SOME servers will go through the motions, and would rather just be at home not doing anything rather than putting in effort to earn a paycheck. This is not what I am addressing, and this is not relevant to what I want to be considered. Things that are not that deep: 1.) Food. 2.) Your predisposition. 3.) Ego. Things that are deep: 1.) Courtesy 2.) Other peoples needs that are directly determined by and to whom they consent slavery. 3.) Reputation. Keep these things in mind; Act well, eat well, serve well, and treat other people well. I hope that I never have to see a server cry again solely because a wave of 75+ people left zero money. Im embarrassed because I KNOW how caring and motivation this particular server is and I KNOW people can do better if they choose so. If you are too broke to tip, please do not eat out. :( Really?
